Terms of Service
Last updated: July 26, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Tablingo (the "Service"), operated independently under the name Tablingo ("we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
Tablingo is a browser extension that captures audio from your active browser tab at your explicit direction, transcribes it in real time using AI speech-to-text, and translates it using an AI language model. The resulting bilingual subtitles are displayed as a temporary overlay on the page.
Tablingo is a translation tool. It does not store, reproduce, copy, or distribute any audio or textual content you process. Audio is processed in real time solely to produce subtitles and is discarded immediately after each transcription call. No recordings are retained.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (COPPA, US).
- If you are located in the European Economic Area, you must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age set by your EU member state under GDPR Article 8) unless a parent or legal guardian has provided verifiable consent.
- By creating an account, you represent that you meet the applicable age requirement.
3. Account Registration
- You must provide a valid email address and a password of at least 8 characters.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of third parties without their consent.
- You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
4. Subscriptions and Payment
- Free tier: 10 minutes of translation time per calendar month (UTC), no credit card required. The monthly counter resets at the start of each month. This limit is enforced server-side and cannot be reset by clearing browser data.
- Pro subscription: $9.99 USD per month, billed monthly via Stripe. Pro plans include up to 30 hours of premium real-time transcription per month. Usage beyond this is automatically routed to standard-quality mode for the remainder of the month, refreshing on the 1st — unless you hold purchased premium hours, which are drawn on once the monthly allowance is used up (see Premium Hour Packs below). Pro subscribers also receive higher rate limits and priority support.
- Promotional pricing: We may from time to time offer introductory promotions — for example, a discounted first month for new subscribers. Unless stated otherwise, promotional offers (a) apply to the monthly plan only, (b) are limited to one redemption per person, account, device, and payment card (enforced using the abuse-prevention signals described in our Privacy Policy), and (c) renew automatically at the standard price after the promotional period. During a discounted first billing period, premium real-time transcription is included up to 15 hours (instead of 30); usage beyond this is routed to standard-quality mode as described above. We may modify or withdraw a promotional offer at any time; this does not affect promotions already redeemed.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account dashboard; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
- Prices are in USD and may be subject to local taxes depending on your jurisdiction.
EU / EEA consumers: Your subscription begins immediately upon payment. By subscribing, you expressly request that performance of the Service begin before the 14-day withdrawal period expires and acknowledge that you thereby waive your right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU, Art. 14(4)(a)). This does not affect your right to cancel future billing at any time.
Premium Hour Packs
Pro subscribers may optionally buy additional premium real-time transcription hours ("premium hours") as a one-time purchase, separate from the subscription fee. The following terms apply:
- What they are: premium hours extend premium real-time transcription beyond the hours included with your subscription each month. They are a prepaid usage allowance, not a subscription, and they do not change your subscription price, renewal date, or any other subscription term.
- Price and size: packs are sold in units of 10 hours for $4.99 USD each. You may buy several packs in a single transaction. Prices are in USD; where local-currency pricing is offered at checkout, the amount shown at checkout is the amount charged.
- Eligibility: only accounts with an active Pro subscription may purchase premium hours.
- How they are used: your monthly included allowance is always consumed first and resets on the 1st of each month (UTC). Premium hours are drawn on only after that monthly allowance is exhausted. They are consumed by actual usage, measured in seconds of premium real-time transcription.
- Expiry: premium hours expire 12 months after purchase. Expired hours are forfeited and are not refunded, credited, extended, or restored. Buying an additional pack extends the expiry of your whole remaining balance to the new purchase's 12-month window.
- Balance limit: an account may hold a maximum of 300 unused premium hours at any time. Checkout will not offer you more packs than fit under that limit; any hours above it are not credited to your account.
- If your subscription ends: premium hours you have already bought remain usable until they are spent or expire, whichever comes first. You cannot buy further packs without an active Pro subscription.
- No cash value: premium hours are non-transferable, cannot be sold, gifted, moved between accounts, or exchanged for cash, and have no value outside the Service.
- Availability: we may change the price, pack size, expiry period, or balance limit for future purchases at any time. Changes do not affect hours already purchased, which keep the terms in effect when they were bought. If we discontinue premium hour packs entirely, hours already on your account remain usable for their remaining term.
- Non-refundable: premium hour packs are final sale. See the Refund Policy below.
EU / EEA consumers — premium hour packs: Premium hours are digital content supplied immediately. By completing a purchase, you expressly request that supply begin at once and acknowledge that, once the hours are credited to your account, you lose your right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU, Art. 16(m)).
Refund Policy
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account dashboard. Your access remains active until the end of the current paid billing period — you will not be charged again after cancellation. We do not issue refunds or credits for:
- Partial or unused portions of a billing period;
- Early cancellation within a billing period;
- Periods during which you did not use the Service;
- Premium hour packs, once the hours have been credited to your account — including hours that are unused, partially used, or that expire at the end of their 12-month term.
If a premium hour purchase is refunded or charged back for any reason, we deduct the corresponding hours from your balance. Where those hours have already been used, the balance is reduced to zero and we may suspend further purchases on the account.
This policy does not affect any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction. If you believe there has been a billing error, please contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will investigate promptly.
5. Acceptable Use
You may use Tablingo only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

6. Copyright, Content, and Tool Liability
Tablingo is a personal accessibility and language-learning tool. The following terms define the allocation of responsibility between you and us:
- Your responsibility: You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have all necessary rights, licences, and consents to capture and transcribe the audio content you direct Tablingo to process. This includes compliance with the terms of service of any platform you use Tablingo on.
- Captured and copied content: You are solely responsible for your use of any content you capture, transcribe, translate, copy, or export using Tablingo — including how it is subsequently stored, shared, or distributed — and for ensuring such use complies with all applicable laws and the terms of service of the platform the content originated from.
- Copyright ownership: The copyright in any original audio content you process remains entirely with the respective rights holders. Tablingo does not claim any ownership over transcription or translation output generated from content you process.
- No storage or distribution: Tablingo does not store, copy, reproduce, or distribute any content you process. The Service operates entirely in real time; audio is discarded immediately after transcription.
- Our limitation: We do not endorse, encourage, or facilitate the use of Tablingo to infringe copyright or to violate any platform's terms of service. We are not liable for any copyright infringement or terms-of-service violation arising from your use of the Service.
7. Intellectual Property
The Tablingo extension, website, and service — including all software, design, branding, and documentation — are owned by Tablingo and protected by applicable intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership right in the Service.
You retain full ownership of any content you own that you choose to process through the Service.
8. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy.
9. Third-Party Services
Tablingo integrates with third-party services including Cloudflare (hosting and AI transcription), OpenAI (AI translation), and Stripe (payment processing). Your use of these services through Tablingo is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third parties.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- Transcriptions or translations will be accurate, complete, or error-free;
- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free from errors;
- Any defects in the Service will be corrected.
Transcription and translation quality depends on audio clarity, language, and the underlying AI models. You should not rely on Tablingo output for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or other high-stakes purposes.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TABLINGO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service;
- Any inaccuracy in transcription or translation output;
- Any copyright infringement or legal violation arising from your use of the Service;
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.
In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10 USD if you have not made any payments.
Some jurisdictions (including Ontario, Canada, and EU member states) do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply only to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting us as described in Section 14.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, 10, 11, and 13) will survive.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
This governing law clause does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protection rights available under the law of your country of residence.
Any dispute arising from these Terms that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
